Nursery

The Garden Barn has become a destination garden center for people all over this part of the country, and with good reason.

When the weather turns (usually in March) our nursery is filled with both common and unique plant material, the quality of which is second to none. We pride ourselves by carrying plants in high demand as well as specimen pieces. Our goal is to have a plant for everyone.

Every year our nursery staff travels to the west coast to hand pick our most-valued trees and shrubs. We receive shipments from all across the country to provide you with the most diverse selection possible.

Not every plant can make the cut to join our nursery. They have to withstand the harsh winters of New England and adapt to the variety of growing conditions in our climate zone. All of the trees, shrubs, and perennials that we carry in the nursery are hardy to Zone 6 unless specifically noted. We make sure our plants are strong so all you have to do is enjoy them.

In addition to the plants that we buy in, the Garden Barn Growing Facility allows us to produce our own plants. With the use of this facility we can grow vast amounts of the most popular perennials and still have room in our nursery for hundreds of other plants that are harder to find.

Our nursery staff is well-versed in a broad spectrum of gardening knowledge. There is hardly a question we can’t answer or a problem we can’t fix. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned gardener, we can help you grow the garden of your dreams. We can make the experience easy for you, too! With just a few details about your yard, the nursery staff can walk you through our plant displays and hand-pick your trees, shrubs, and perennials.
